Rev. Brent White

Rev. Brent White's weekly blog is a resource for sharing and discussing Vinebranch news, sermons and other theological and church-related things.

I was born in Atlanta and grew up in nearby Tucker, GA. After earning a B.S. In Management from Georgia Tech in 1993, I worked until 1998 for AT&T/Lucent in large system sales. I left that career to complete an electrical engineering degree, also from Georgia Tech (2000), after which I worked as an electrical engineer for a small engineering firm in Norcross and MeadWestvaco in Smyrna.

After answering God's call into pastoral ministry in 2004, I served as pastor of Christ UMC in Forsyth for three years while in seminary, and was awarded a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in May of 2007. In June of 2010  I was ordained an elder in full connection.

I have been married for 17 years to Lisa. We have three children: Elisa, 10, Townshend, 9, and Ian, 6.

As part of the pastoral staff at Alpharetta Methodist, I preach and lead worship primarily in the Vinebranch contemporary service. I assist with pastoral care, teach Bible studies and Sunday school, write a church-related blog, and serve as pastoral liaison to various committees.

I also serve as a chaplain for the Alpharetta Police Department and volunteer with the Alpharetta Lion's Club. I am passionately interested in rock music, collecting vinyl records, and playing guitar. My favorite artists include Bob Dylan and the Who, as well as a more recent band called the Fiery Furnaces. I also enjoy writing and recording songs using Apple's GarageBand software.

On Saturdays in the fall, I spend far too much time watching and fretting over Georgia Tech football.
