At Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, the mission of our Mother's Morning Out, Preschool and Kingergarten programs is excellence in education with a Christ-centered foundation, fostering a life time love for learning and creating leaders in Christ.

We proudly provide a weekday program in a loving, nurturing, Christian environment. We strive to provide each child the opportunity to develop physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually. We are accredited by the United Methodist Preschool Association of the North Georgia Conference and our staff consists of qualified, degreed lead teachers.

There are a number of opportunities for parent involvement. Special programs and events are scheduled throughout the school year, including Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Pageant, Storytellers, Small Town, Art Show, Book Fair and much more.

Our Philosophy

Alpharetta First United Methodist Preschool provides a quality social experience in a gentle, loving Christian environment. We realize all children develop at a different rate - each child’s development is uniquely their own and will be handled as such. We believe there should be balanced social, emotional, spiritual, physical and cognitive growth. To accomplish this growth, enrichment activities, games, manipulates, stories and songs will be experienced. We will provide an opportunity for children to learn through their play with a balance of self-discovery and teacher directed activities.

Curriculum

We know that at each stage of life, children take on special development challenges related to their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our curriculum teaches children social skills through active learning. All learning is individualized at the child’s own pace to promote school readiness.

Play

We believe “Guided Play” is how children learn best. During guided play, children will:
  • Meet new friends
  • Learn to share the adult’s attention
  • Paint at the easel
  • Build with materials
  • Play with toys
  • Look at books
  • Become independent
  • Learn social skills needed to play
  • Become introduced to God, Jesus and the Bible
  • Listen, move and sing to music
  • Learn to finish one task before moving on to another one
  • Compare and contrast experiences
  • Explore how things work
  • Learn to listen and follow directions
  • Develop and expand language capabilities

Music

The children in Preschool and Kindergarten classes attend music. Here they learn instruments, sing songs, and prepare for upcoming performances that are given throughout the year.  These performances include a Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Program, Easter Service and 4’s Graduation.

All students attend computer once a week. Here our computer teacher instructs the basics of navigating a computer through interactive games.
