Communications Director

The Communications Director must have the following key skills:

  • Communications/marketing experience with both inbound and outbound audiences
  • Exceptional planning and project management
  • Ability to write engagingly for various media
  • Technical proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud design software (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are used on a daily basis.)
  • Experience with WordPress

The Director of Communications reports to the Executive Pastor and works closely with ministry leaders, vendors and volunteers. The Communications Director supervises the Communications and Graphics Specialist. 

General Description of Job:

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and strategy for outbound and inbound communications
  • Oversee and manage the website, app, social media, regular email newsletters, digital and printed promotional signage, directional signage, printed materials and paid advertising
  • Develop strategies to grow the website, social media and app user data base; and to increase conversion rate optimization, with the ultimate goal of engaging users in such a way that they are compelled to visit the church, become involved and develop as disciples
  • Meet with ministry leaders to provide counsel and direction in strategies for promoting events and ministries
  • Manage the Communications budget
  • Serve as content editor of all marketing materials

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, graphic design or related field and 8 years’ experience in a communications role
  • Strong visionary, organizational and planning skills with the ability to implement communications campaigns from concept development through design and implementation
  • Demonstrated skill with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CMS, specifically WordPress, with an understanding of CSS and SEO
  • Experience in creative communications and writing for a variety of audiences. Strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to facilitate working with a wide range of individuals and groups
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
  • Willingness to help and an open mind to change and new ideas
  • Energetic, flexible team player and ability to work well under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple simultaneous projects

Administrative Assistant

Alpharetta Methodist is seeking an Administrative Assistant to work Monday-Thursday, 32 hours per week. A/V Team Lead:
Part Time (29 hours/week)

The A/V Team Lead will work closely with the Director of Technology in planning and helping to lead the A/V efforts at Alpharetta Methodist by overseeing and/or filling one of the 6 possible A/V/L positions during worship services at Alpharetta Methodist. These are Front of House Audio, Broadcast Audio, Video Switcher/Director, Camera Operator, Lights, and ProPresenter. Currently, contemporary and traditional services are on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The A/V Team Lead will adapt to different worship schedules as needed. In addition to Sunday services, the A/V Team Lead will have office time for planning, editing, and setting up for/running A/V for additional services and events.

Skills needed:

  • Proficient in Live Sound Reinforcement
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead a production team
  • Familiar with video editing software and concepts
  • Familiar with production lighting
  • Basic understanding and skills required to operate ProPresenter, ATEM video switchers, video cameras, audio consoles, lighting consoles, video editing software
  • Flexible “can-do” attitude to take on various projects that surface
  • Willingness to help out in other church-related areas as needed
  • Willingness to learn and practice each possible position

A/V Team Members:
Part Time – Sundays

The A/V Team Member will work closely with the Director of Technology and A/V Team Lead to execute high quality productions across all worship services. The A/V Team Member will fill one of the 6 possible A/V/L positions during worship services at Alpharetta Methodist. These are Front of House Audio, Broadcast Audio, Video Switcher/Director, Camera Operator, Lights, and ProPresenter. Currently, contemporary and traditional services are on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The A/V Team Member will adapt to different worship schedules as needed. In addition to Sunday services, the A/V Team Member may be required to help set up and run A/V for additional services and events during the week. 5 work hours each Sunday is guaranteed (7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m). Other hours will be on an as needed basis throughout the week.

Food and Admin Support  

Do you have a passion for food? Great organizational skills? The ability to handle details? Have we got a job for you! Alpharetta Methodist Student Ministry is looking for someone to work 10 hours per week, and only simple cooking skills are needed. This position will primarily involve organization for the student Sunday evening meals. You must be present on the Sunday nights we serve food from 5-7 p.m., but the other hours of the week are flexible, and most can be worked from home. Email Deedee Muehlbauer if interested. 

Special Needs Caregiver 

Alpharetta Methodist is hiring a Special Needs Caregiver for children. This Children’s Ministry staffing position will provide assistance to children (ages 3-10) with varying special needs so they may thrive and participate in our Children’s Ministry programming. Work hours are required on Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon.
